Sarah is a movement artist who has carved her own path between concert dance and musical theater, bringing a new texture to theatrical storytelling. She works as both a performer and a choreographer, and always highlights how those two positions benefit each other. Her aesthetic blends physical athleticism with more pedestrian, gestural movement to portray relatable human beings on stage. Sarah’s skills and interests range from choreography for big dance musicals to movement direction for small, intimate plays. She has a keen eye for the overall vision of a show as well as the intricate details that help a production flow seamlessly. Dynamics, rhythm, improvisation, and character building are all emphasized in her work.
As a performer, you can currently see her on Broadway in the new musical Hell’s Kitchen — with music/lyrics by Alicia Keys, direction by Michael Greif, and choreography by Camille A. Brown — now at the Shubert Theatre straight off its sold-out run at The Public Theater.
She recently toured the country as “Mob Leader” in the 50th Anniversary National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar from 2019-2022 and she’s been a member of the company Camille A. Brown and Dancers since 2018, touring and performing in two seasons at The Joyce theater in NYC. (Their recent performance of Mr. TOL E. RanCE was nominated for a 2023 Bessie Award!) And in 2015, Sarah was a featured dancer in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof, with movement by Hofesh Shechter and direction by Bartlett Sher.
On TV, Sarah is featured in Harlem, Mozart in the Jungle (Season 4), Modern Love, and NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar LIVE. She’s also been a part of numerous industrials, live immersive events, and dance films.
As a Broadway creative, Sarah was recently the assistant choreographer of The WHO’s Tommy at the Nederlander Theatre. She was also the associate choreographer of Camelot on Broadway at Lincoln Center and How to Dance in Ohio at The Belasco Theatre.
Currently in development, she is on the choreography team of the new musical Begin Again — with music by Train and directed by Lorin Latarro — and the associate director of the new musical Endless — with music by Julia Riew and directed by Zi Alikhan.
Her own choreography has been featured in numerous festivals and showcases around the country, and she teaches contemporary, improvisation, and theater classes all around NYC and beyond.
In addition to dancing, Sarah has a Master’s in Journalism from NYU and works as a freelance arts writer.
Int/Adv Contemporary Class description: Sarah’s class strives to bridge the gap between pushing our physical boundaries and remaining relatable human beings.
